The Farm on Adderley

So on Friday I went out to eat at a restaurant with my BFA buddies. We've been doing this meet once a month thing. This is so we can keep in touch and stay buddies, even after college. Maybe even do mini art critique among ourselves. Mostly so far we just get together and eat (lol) and chat and talk about whats new in life. 


Last time we ate at a Thai place and it was a BYOB and people brought stuff, ie. vodka! I don't drink, or rather I can't, health reason. BUT I can have a little wine or something every now and then. So I had a sip of this vodka and I certainly remembered how much I hated it. Ugh it burns, it taste terrible, and I bet a little sip would make me drunk considering what a lightweight I am. I forget the name of the place atm, but it was on 1st and 1st. Afterward one of the friend suggested we go to a bar. Man was this a grungy looking bar. It was dark, smoky, and heavy metal playing. It was nice and fun and stuff but since I don't drink, going to bar always made me feel left out and stuff but meh I didn't care because I wasn't the only one. Oh it was across this art place called  ABC No Rio. E and I went out for air because it was a little stuffy in there, and maybe it may have been a little awkward for us two little Asian in this particular place. As well as all my other friends, except one or two lol! Anyhoo, it was a fun-filled evening and we did it again on Friday.

We went to this place called The Farm on Adderley, and I had the yummy roasted chicken. It came with kale and sweet peppers, ugh. I HATE any peppers!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Except black and white peppers for seasoning. I asked for no peppers and more kale which was really good! The chicken was super moist and tasty. The kale also had some pickled celery or something, it was sour and goooooooooood! I enjoyed my meal at this place, and at first I was going to get the burger, because that sounded good too but I went for the chicken because I can eat burgers anywhere but the chicken is something different. Of course if I really wanted something different, I should've gotten steak or fish or something I normally never get which is always chicken which I LOVE!!!!! I tend to always get chicken no matter where I go, just because I love chicken xD Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!

I was walking around my school's campus and I saw this couple and thought they seem to be sharing their pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol So I took a pic of it!

Flu Shot/Dean&Deluca/Bread and Spread

Ugh went back to the docs to get my flu shot....... Soooooo not fun, and super painful esp a few hour afterwards, that's when it hits me the hardest. The upper part of my arm is beyond sore and I can barely move it. But if it helps me not get any sicker or prevents future sickness, then so be it. As the saying goes, "no pain, no gain" pfft! And What's with crazy whtie guy speaking super loud on the train?! I had my headphones on plus the train was moving so there was a lot of noise and yet I could clearly hear what the guy was talking about. Apparently his mother-in-law's landlord lied about selling his place just so the mom-in-law could move out and he can charge more to the next tenant. I wasn't trying to listen, he just made it really hard to ignore! I saw these other old ladies staring him down for talking so loudly. They were trying to talk to each other but he talked over them, it was amusing!

I went to Dean and Deluca, yes I can't believe it too. I needed some rosemary bread and I didn't want to walk all the way to Wholes Food for it. I'm lazy! Plus it was raining and I do not need to get sick some more! I looked around and found this spread/dip for bread and I thought hey perfecto! Its made with artichoke and caper and extra virgin olive oil. *Num num num goooooood!!!!* It was pricey but dammit, it was so worth it. It really tasted great on the rosemary bread, plus I had some truffle oil that made it yummier! Phew! I also got a tea drink because I wanted to try something diff and new. Its from Argo Teas, Mojitea flavor. Its kinda weird but good weird plus I get a nice glass bottle to reuse! All this cost me a pretty penny but I'll be able to enjoy them so it's all good!.

Also, I miss all of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back From The Dead, Cliche Much?

 

Well it's been a while huh? Yes I got lazy, had to deal with finishing school, work on my graduating solo art show, and recently catching a nasty cold that had me coughing my lungs out and literally booger up the wazoo. Sorry I know TMI. I'm a little out of it. I have a ton of drugs in me, including cough syrup, cough suppressant, and antibiotic oh my! Sigh I think its my body retaliating because I haven't gotten super sick in a long time.

me: "Yay I'm not sick!!!!"
body: "Arrogant lady, 'White blood cells, RETREAT!!'"
me: *cough hack cough* *blow nose*
body: "Hah that's what you get for jinxing yourself lady!"
me: "Ok I'm sorry now make me better! Please!"

On the other hand, it gave me time to watch some movies. Midnight in Paris, which I thought was hilarious and great. I was a little confused by it but it didn't bother me as much because I was entertained by all the famous writers and artists. Hemingway, Picasso, Matisse, Dali, Stein; all in one place yay!?!!!?!! Overall I thought it was entertaining because it made me giddy that all those famous names were all in one place! Owen Wilson was fun and Adrien Brody as Dali was hilarious. I really didn't like Rachel McAdam's character which  is fine probably because she's mean, rude, and a bitch!

I will end with a little pet peeve of mine. I don't understand why people stand in FRONT of a door. I mean hello it's a door, people will be going in AND out at all time. I mean seriously, IT'S A DOOR!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF A DOOR!!!! So I did what I do best, I knocked her out of my way and looked innocent and made her realized that she's an idiot for standing there. I knocked some sense into her, bwahahahahahahaha! I'm evil and I'm happy I was a pushy bitch. lol

MoMA/Endo/Film

Over the weekend I went back to MoMA hoping to finally catch the stupid Tim Burton exhibit but alas again I was denied! And of course the exhibit is now over so I'll just have to wait for online postings to see what happened..... Oh well, I still went in to check out the rest of the museum which is always nice. A performance artist, Marina Abramovic had a show and it was really interesting. I brought my nephew Justin (thinking we might catch the Burton exhibit) and I didn't realized how much nudity there was at her exhibit! I of course don't care, but he's six years old so yah.... While we're walking through, I had to cover his eyes but the most interesting aspect of the museum was that there were two naked people (could be 2 guys, 2 girls, or mixed) about a feet or two apart and you had to walk between them to get to the next room. Of course this was optional but Justin really wanted to go through so after much thought and contemplating we both went through and enjoyed it and it was fun! How often can you say you were between two naked guys!

Yesterday I had to see my endocrinologist and it sucks as usual but what happened was interesting. This older senior citizen lady also sees my doc. Well when she got off the train, everyone could hear her screaming and yelling. Apparently she has a elevator phobia. When it was my turn to see my doc, she was at my docs door asking question and saying things but when my doc told her she needed to go down to the 3rd floor (I was on the 7th) she started wailing and crying about how scared she is of the elevator! Eventually someone brought her down and I went to see the doc and well that's a whole nother story.

I finally took some pictures with film and I developed it today which turns out I might have a light leak in my camera which sucks! My roll of film had streaks of dark on certain parts so that was not cool! They came out perfectly so it means I can still take pictures! lol I've been so bored and watched so many things ugh I'm a bum and I need to head out to the gym more often............

Good Bye Vacay......

It was my spring break last week and I spent a few days in Philly with my sister then I went to Penn State main campus up in Happy Valley to visit an old friend of mine who I've known for 20 years! Yes a long ass time! It was nice spending time with her and meeting some of her friends like her gay roommate with a just as cute boyfriend and discovering one of her friend is a metal head although she doesn't look it at all and learn the song Sick Bubblegum by Rob Zombie! LOL, really good song!! It was a nice trip since it gave me something to do during my break otherwise I would've just spent all my time at home doing nothing or at my sister's doing nothing. So we basically just chatted and caught up with each others' lives, went to see Clash of the Titans and Ninja Assassin at a friends, sat around a bar watching college kids get wasted, saw a car get saran wrapped and toilet papered and a bunch of other things but those were the most memorable things!

My friend has this dish she makes that her roommate calls "Vomit Pasta." It's not a disgusting dish but the name comes from what it sort of looks like. It basically has EVERYTHING in it. There the pasta, onion, sweet peppers, corn, peas, an assortment of cheese, cream of mushroom/celery/and chicken and a variety of spices. It was def a yummy dish minus the onion and peppers which I hate! While there we did a lot of cooking! Throughout my time there we've had this chicken/mushroom meat ball patty things (which were realllllllly good with Worcestershire sauce,) bruchetta, pasta salad, corn and black bean salad, cucumber salad, hash brown and eggs and toast and thin bagel (they were half the size! and half the calories!) and other stuff. I think I gained weight eating there..... but it was all good and fun!

Since coming back home on Monday night, it was weird not talking to her since that's what we did every night. Esp since this went one for a few days. It was a hard ride getting there but not as bad as coming home!!!!!!!! For the ride there, I took Greyhound and the bus wasn't packed so I had the two seats to myself which is always nice, but on the way there, apparently there was some crackhead there but I didn't really pay much attention to it since I had my headphones on. I overheard some guy mention her and he sad she was kinda bugging out, bugging him and switching seats, had lipstick all over the place and mentioned she stole a bunch of cough syrup or something. I luckily kept away from that and didn't have much to worry about.

On my way home though.....ugh! I didn't take Greyhound but a Chinese bus company which is cheaper and goes straight back to NYC. Well I guess they pick which kind of vehicle to use depending on how many people are on. Since there weren't that many they had a van that seated I guess 15 people or something. It wasn't full all the way but I did have to share my seat and this guy that sat next to me was a big guy! I'm guessing he had to be over six feet. I tend to fall asleep right away which I did and maybe an hour in I woke up and felt him leaning into me. He's a freaking BIG GUY and heavy!!! His legs were also so long that my leg fitted right under his! And he did that, put his leg over my leg. This guy really didn't understand personal space dammit! It was also all hot and humid in the van because there were a bunch of us in there and no windows were open or anything. Eventually the driver turns on the AC every now and then. I was going crazy until we finally made a restroom stop.

I needed to get out and pee and buy a cold drink because it was that warm. When it was time to go back in, I made sure I took up more space so the guy next to me wouldn't be all over me. Well it worked for a while until he kept inching into me and I finally got pissed off and use my laptop bag to kinda keep him away and if he did lean in, he'd get a gut full of corner! It worked but I'd fall in and out of sleep the whole way, it was a five hour trip! Well maybe four and change but that five is including my train ride back home. Anyhoo it was a fun little vacation I took and I got to relax and chill and I kinda wish I had more time to just lull around but it's time to get back to reality and do stupid work..... T_T

Another interesting thing I noticed today was how crazy people are over seats on the trains! I use to think it was mostly the Chinese and I know this cuz I see my kind doing it alllllll the time, but no it's freaking EVERYONE. There was this Indian or middle eastern guy standing and he saw this guy looking like he was going to get up. He goes up to the guy and stands in front of him making sure he'll get the seat, uhh maybe you should let him get up first then you can sit.... It's so bizarre how people act, but I'll admit I do try getting the seat if either I've been standing all day or something or I know I've a long way to go. But I don't purposefully make sure that only I can get a seat!!!

And one more odd tidbit I saw today: this grown woman who was a mommy as well as another one on the way, was sucking on her thumb..... I'm sorry but only babies are allowed to do things like that, not even kids, just babies! First of all, the finger is disgustingly dirty and full of germs unless its in a sterilized thumb bubble....! Which I think could be an interesting invention for weirdos who like to suck on their thumbs! Anyhoo I think its time to wrap up this crazy long post! Have a good one!
